Dear ,

KCSARC is thankful for so many things this year! Most recently, we are thankful for all of you who attended the "Kids Are Our Business" Luncheon in Renton raising close to $40,000 to support KCSARC's work. We are also thankful for those of you who have donated in response to Bill and Janette Adamucci's matching challenge (you can learn more and donate here), and for the King County Council maintaining funding for our services in the 2012 budget.

With so many things we are thankful for, we still have many wishes for the upcoming holidays. We hope that proposed cuts to our funding in the State budget are reinstated (see what you can do below) and that you will all mark your calendars for the "Kids Are Our Business" Breakfast in March. Ultimately, our biggest wish, and the same one we have every year, is that we have a community free from sexual assault. Thank you for your partnership in helping us achieve this ambitious wish!

Sincerely,

Mary Ellen Stone
Executive Director

LunchMaintain Funding for KCSARC in the Washington State Budget

The Governor's proposed budget includes a 20% reduction in funds for sexual assault with alternatives that would result in elimination of all funds. Most of the victims KCSARC serves are children and families. What KCSARC does saves lives and improves public safety. These proposed cuts would result in significant reductions to services. Contact the Governor or your Legislators and let them know what you think about the proposed budget cuts.

photoKCSARC Photo Contest

Over the next couple of months, we will be working on continued improvements to the KCSARC website. One of these improvements will be to add photos that are more reflective of KCSARC's mission and services, and speak more to ending the silence around sexual assault and the services KCSARC provides.

We need you help! Submit your photos! Photos are preferred, but art will also be accepted. Everyone who submits a photo will be entered in a random drawing for a $50 Cheesecake Factory gift card.

Please submit your photos by November 23, 2011, to be eligible for the gift card drawing. Submission does not guarantee that KCSARC will use your photo or artwork.

Photos/art should be submitted to svillian@kcsarc.org or mailed to KCSARC, Attn: Development Photo Contest, PO Box 300, Renton, WA 98057. Submissions must be accompanied by a statement expressly giving permission from the photographer, as well as any subjects photographed, releasing the photos for KCSARC's use at its sole discretion (download a photo release).
